I'm grateful to be working with musicians, producers, filmmakers and so many other hard-working people who keep this entertainment industry pulsing. Some are good friends who became clients; others, the other way around. Over the years, I haven't just done legal work for creatives -- I've also played in bands myself, written and recorded music, and collaborated with many creators in the worlds of music, film and media. It's not easy to make a living, even for the most gifted ones, and this stays on my mind when I'm working with clients. It's the people, their stories, and the amazing art they create that keep me coming back for more. That's the motivation for doing this job and pushing to help creatives protect their work, understand and manage their risks, and make solid deals for themselves. I have my mom to thank for the inspiration. She had a great love for music, constantly had a record player or radio on, and she dragged me and my sisters all over Texas as kids to see live music at chili cook-offs, clubs, dancehalls, and music festivals.
